Welcome to Terre Bleu Lavender Farm

Located in Milton, Ontario,  just over an hour away from Toronto is Terre Bleu Lavender Farm.

Terre Bleu is Canada’s largest lavender farm.

It is a beautiful sight to see and a definite trip worth making if you like lavender or if you just want to take insta worthy photos.

Some things to know before visiting the farm

The farm is located at 2501 Sideroad 25, Milton, Ontario (West of Toronto).

The farm opens up at 11 am, so make sure you get there nice and early to beat the crowds

Ticket cost to get in is $15 at the door and  $12 online during the week, $20 at the door and  $16 online on the weekends (these prices sometimes change)

There is a brief informational video just past the ticket booth giving you a bit of the farms history

The farm allows for photos to be taken but not on a professional level without a permit. No tripods are allowed.

There is a store filled with lavender goodies where you can make purchases when you’re finished touring the fields

You can also purchase lavender flavored ice cream to keep cool

Terre Bleu has a small bee farm

If I’m being totally honest, I hadn’t even known there were lavender fields in Ontario.

When my friend told me about Terre Bleu, I was surprised and super excited. 

We wanted to get there nice and early and avoid the crowds we were sure would come, so we decided to leave Scarborough by about 9:30 to make the drive over.

We arrived  at Terre blue around 10:45 am on a Tuesday morning.

There were a couple other cars already parked along the side of the road waiting for the farm to open and so we parked our car as well and waited.

Soon enough they opened the gates and we all drove in.

We presented our tickets that we purchased ahead of time online and then sat to watch the 3 minute introductory video.

The farm offered a free tour at 11:30, so we didn’t stray too far and opted to take a few pictures nearby.

Initial thoughts of the farm was that it was a beautiful piece of land but it was slightly disappointing to see the long rows of lavender were actually quite small.

Learning about the lavender and the farm

During our short guided tour, we learned that the farm is family owned and that they have 9 different varieties of lavender that all bloom at various times throughout the season. 

Only two of them were in bloom during our visit.

The spring had been a harsh one for the farm and so the lavender had had a difficult time blooming, and they were forced to replant a lot of their crops.

We then understood that we weren’t experiencing the farm at its peak but it was still nice to see and a lovely experience.

We were shown the distillery where the farm uses the lavender to make lavender oil.

Depending on the variety of lavender, other than distilling it for oil, they also dry it out and add it into a variety of products such as soap, lotions, sachets, macaroons, and ice cream.

The process looks really interesting but very tedious. 

They use a large authentic handmade copper still, which uses steam to create their pure lavender oil- everything thing they make is 100% organic.

Just past the distillery, there’s a herb bar that will make any gardener jealous and a small bee farm the farm uses to produce lavender infused honey.

The yellow bench trail and the yellow door

Walking back around to the other side of the farm, we began following the signs for the yellow bench trail that would then lead us to the yellow door.

The trail lead us through a small forest complete with a little bridge that allowed us to cross over a stream with a cute yellow bench situated just beside it.

After a brief photo sesh, we continued on in the direction of the yellow door. 

Despite getting there early, there was still a decent sized line up.

Every waiting to snap those shots for the gram in front of the yellow door that stood in the middle of the lavender field.

Soon it was our turn and insta worthy photos did we take!

After roaming the fields for a bit longer, we began making our way back towards the parking lot to head out.

It was a very chill day, one I really enjoyed where I got to spend time with my sisters from another mister and my boo thang.

If Terre Bleu lavender field wasn’t on your list of to do’s before, you should definitely add it on. You won’t regret it!
