When I was looking for places to stay for my visit to Bali, I came across this beautiful looking villa on Airbnb.
From the moment I saw it, I knew I had to stay there. It looked like a beautiful dream.
Looking through the photos and the description, I thought to myself:
“Is this place for real? Are my eyes deceiving me? They’re offering everything listed here and the place looks like this for that small a price??”
In this post
My checklist
The villa pretty much checked off all the requirements I had for the best accommodation possible.
I’d wanted that indoor/outdoor living experience as well as the outdoor bathroom and shower.
Check, it had that.
A private pool. Not shared, but private.
Check, this villa had that too.
I’d really wanted one of those soaking bathtubs that were perfect for those amazing flower baths that everyone in their mother seems to take when in Bali.
Check…even though I didn’t actually get to indulge in one myself while I was there, sigh. More on that later though.
A place with a good location.
Check, this baby was within walking distance to a lot of restaurants…or should I say Warungs.
Booking the villa
Normally when I’m booking accommodations for a trip, I tend to wait till closer to my travel dates to book, but I did not want to chance missing out on this one.
I really thought it was a steal and at the price it was at, I was worried someone else would find it and snatch it away from me. The thought actually saddened me quite a bit, so I sent the link to Yann right away and said we needed to stay here.
As soon as Yann said he was good with it, I booked that baby right away!
The booking process was super simple as it was with Airbnb and I’ve booked different stays with them several times.
All I had to do was select my dates and pay! I sent a quick hello message to the host telling him a little about myself and Yann and that I was looking forward to staying at his lovely villa.
But what about other options?
There were some other contenders, don’t get me wrong, there are so many beautiful places to stay in Bali.
I had a good-sized list of places I wanted to stay in Bali, but I also had a budget to keep. While many places in Southeast Asia are much cheaper to stay at than in other countries, especially Canada, when you get into the more luxurious villas and hotels, the prices can still be pretty high up there.
Had I a much bigger budget, I probably could’ve and would’ve splurged on a “better villa” or a resort with more amenities.
But booking the right place also depends on what you’re looking for in a place to stay.
I was spending a total of 3 days in Ubud and I knew I would be out exploring for the majority of those days. So technically all I really needed was a clean place to sleep at night that had a toilet and shower.
The extras I added on was that I wanted to experience Bali living, which for me, meant a private villa, pool, and outdoor bathroom.
I’m not a needy person and can be pretty content with the minimum.
If you’re a person who needs a more luxurious stay, then you’ll definitely need to have a bigger budget because even in Bali, accommodations can get expensive depending on how long you’re staying.
If it’s one night, then go for it, splurge on that beautiful stay! Do you, live it up!
If your budget is on the smaller end, like mine, then we need to be more careful with where we stay.
Getting to the villa
All that being said, this place wasn’t super cheap but it wasn’t expensive either. I paid a total of $296.94 CAD for my 3-night stay.
Not bad, right. For a private villa with a pool?! Um heck yes!
Do you know how much a place like this would cost here in Canada?! Forget about it, I wouldn’t be able to afford it.
Our Grab driver dropped us off at the villa and upon arriving, the host, Kadek, met us at the top of the street.
He led us down the small alley and unlocked the gates to the villa.
Ahhh yeah, I thought as I gazed upon my home for the next 3 days. It looked just like the pictures.
Kadek was very kind and friendly and showed us around. He showed us the different rooms, washrooms, the umbrellas that were at our disposal (it rained a lot in Ubud), and the fridge.
What was in the fridge, you ask?
Bintangs!! 🙂
The regular size and the big size.
Bintangs are the official beer in Bali, they’re delicious. Even if you’re not a beer person, you would like these babies, they’re sooo good.
Lastly, Kadek showed us the menu. Yes, there was a menu we could order off of, for an extra fee of course. All we had to do was message him on WhatsApp and let him know what we wanted and a chef would come and make it for us.
Pretty cool, right!
Sadly, we didn’t actually get to take advantage of that because we were out and about every day.
The layout of the villa
The villa actually had 2 bedrooms, which we didn’t need. I still chose to book this place though because it was just so beautiful.
Yann didn’t care which room we stayed in and left the decision to me.
I chose the best of the 2 rooms, well they were both actually pretty identical, so I chose the one with the outdoor washroom.
After all, this was a major factor on the list!
The room we chose was farthest from the gate at the end of the pool. Next to that was the living and kitchen area, followed by the 2nd bedroom on the other side. All the rooms had A/C and were lined up under a covered porch.
Each area had its own glass sliding doors that locked with a key. We had to make sure to close the door each time we left an area so that bugs wouldn’t get in.
When we would leave the villa, we locked all the doors as well as the gate. Each door had its own key which stayed in the door and then there was a separate one for the front gate which we kept with us.
The rooms surrounded the pool and there were 2 lounge chairs at the end of the pool.
In front of both bedrooms, there was a cushioned bench.
Along the side of the pool was lush greenery that beautifully covered up the white fence leading to the rice field next door and added extra privacy. There was a statue fountain that streamed water into the pool.
Beside our bedroom, and at the other end of the pool, in the corner, was an outdoor shower to rinse off when finished indulging in the pool.
The bedrooms
The rooms were both clean and simple. Each room had a lovely multi-coloured marble-like accent wall. The bedrooms had a small wooden desk and chair, a low table, and an armoire.
Bedroom 1 had an indoor bathroom that was a pretty good size with a standing shower.
Bedroom 2 (the one we chose) had the beautiful outdoor bathroom complete with a small stand that could hold some toiletries and some towels.
The toilet was beside the door and the big soaker tub across from it. Stepping down onto the lower level of the bathroom and onto the stone floor led to the stand-up shower.
There was greenery around the edges of the wall really making you feel like you were showering outside in a jungle.
It was awesome.
To finish off the space, the stone wall came up halfway and met bamboo that ran all along the top of the wall for added height and privacy.
It was a beautiful space.
The kitchen and living area
The living room had the same accent wall as the bedrooms and had 2 fairly new-looking and comfortable sofas.
Along the wall where the door opened was the flat screen tv set up on a wooden stand. In the center of the room, a black wicker table with a glass top.
Walking farther into the room, along the wall was the kitchen table and chairs with enough room for 4 people.
On the opposite side was the big and beautiful multicoloured wooden bar table and fully stocked kitchen.

My first taste of private villa living
I was insanely excited about our 3-day stay.
We had arrived at the villa in the afternoon, so Yann and I decided not to go back out but to indulge in the pool and some Bintangs!
We settled in and lounged around in the pool for a few hours. It was honestly amazing. It started raining, but we didn’t care. After all, we were already wet in the pool. I kept asking myself if this was real life. It was honestly one of my dreams come true.
I know it sounds extra, but really, it had been my dream to stay at a villa in Bali for so long and it was finally happening.
I was on cloud 9.
The following day was spent touring Ubud and the day after we spent the morning climbing a mountain and enjoying some hot springs. In the afternoon, Yann slept till dinner exhausted from the morning, but I chose to enjoy the villa.
I had a mini photoshoot and took pictures around the villa making sure to capture every area of the lovely place. I enjoyed the pool for a bit and a Bintang or two before the rain that I knew was sure to come started.
Then I took it into the living area and relaxed there until Yann emerged ready for dinner.
The bed was comfortable and the black-out curtains were a nice touch to keep the light out when needed.
It was a really nice stay.
So were there any downsides to this villa?
The only issue I had ( if I can even call it that), I would say is that we did have to deal with some bugs. However, that IS to be expected as this was an indoor/outdoor accommodation. I didn’t get bit by mosquitoes or anything, it was more just spiders and some flies, nothing major.
It did get a little tiring having to make sure the door was closed properly every time we left a space but it was manageable and again, expected as we were in a tropical climate and were dealing with normal nature stuff. We just had to be extra cautious.
In conclusion
If I were to visit Ubud again in the future, I would definitely stay here again.
This villa was that beautiful.
The location was great, we were within walking distance to a lot of restaurants and were only a 10-minute drive from the center of Ubud and a 70-minute drive from Ngurah Rai International airport.
Walking through the village was an experience in itself and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.
***
If you’re planning on visiting Ubud and are looking for a reasonably priced villa to stay at in a great location, I definitely recommend staying here.
Side note: I checked the prices again, and it’s even cheaper than when I stayed here which is just insane to me!
You seriously won’t regret it….unless you really can’t deal with bugs, then maybe don’t.
But that is just part of the Bali experience!
Until next time, stay blessed ♡

Bali is more than a place…It’s a mood, it’s magical. It’s a tropical state of mind.
