This is your ultimate Amsterdam bucket list. Discover all there is to see and do in Amsterdam. Grab your checklist so you don’t miss out on anything when you visit the city of bikes! How many things can you cross off your Amsterdam Bucket list?

~

See. Eat. Do

Can I just be honest for a second and say that before visiting, Amsterdam wasn’t really on my radar. I didn’t have the desire to visit the city I know many other people did, but I’m happy to now say that I am so glad I did visit.

Amsterdam is beautiful, the architecture is so unique and distinguishable and there are so many things to get up to.

I don’t want others to look over what this place has to offer like I did and thus this post was born! This post is one big list of all the best things to see and do while visiting the city of bikes.

Be sure to check out my post about my 3 days spent touring the city. I went into detail about everything I got up to while there and there’s a good story in all of it too, promise 😉

There is also a downloadable checklist at the bottom of this page for you to print off so you can check these items off your list as you go!

Don’t have time to read? Download the list now and come back to this post later!

The ultimate Amsterdam Bucket List

Visit one of the many coffee shops (if that’s your thing)

Coffee shop in Amsterdam

One of the things Amsterdam is famous for is their coffee shops. And it’s not actually for coffee (like I thought they were 😛), it’s where you buy weed. There are several different shops and there are several different types and flavours you can choose from.

Take a walk through Jordaan

Canals in Amsterdam

Take pictures as you stroll down the beautiful district of Jordan. The architecture and the canals here are lovely.

Visit an Ice bar

Amsterdam Icebar

Yann and I visited the Ice bar our first day in Amsterdam and it was honestly such a fun and cool experience(no pun intended). Grab your ticket through Get Your Guide and be prepared for a fun time. They serve lots of vodka but don’t worry, they have different flavours you can try. But even if you’re not big on vodka (I’m not a vodka person at all) the experience itself is more than worth it.

Visit Dam Square

Dam Square in Amsterdam

Dam Square is the most popular and the biggest square in Amsterdam. It’s located right in the heart of the city and is surrounded by lots of buildings, shops and restaurants. No trip to Amsterdam is complete without visiting this square.

Visit or simply basque upon the Royal Palace of Amsterdam

Royal Palace of Amsterdam

Located right in Dam Square, you can’t miss it, it’s the big beautiful building with the green dome on top.

Go wine and cheese tasting

Wine and cheese tasting at Henri Willig Cheese House in Amsterdam

I love me some wine and I love me some cheese. Put them together and I’m one happy chic. Amsterdam is actually where you want to go to try some awesome cheeses, yes France is typically where you’d think to get your cheese from, but don’t sleep on the one’s offered in Amsterdam!

Walk the Bloemenmarkt

This is a lovely flower market where you can find lots of different flowers to indulge in. Oh, and did I mention that it’s the world’s only floating market, pretty cool right! That’s reason enough to visit.

Visit one of the many museums

Visit the Ann Frank House

The Anne Frank museum in Amsterdam

Ann Frank’s house was one of the things I wanted to do the most but never actually got a chance to visit. So my advice to you is, buy your tickets in advance! There is limited space and tickets sell out really fast. The lineup to get in is ridiculous so you definitely need to plan your visit in advance.

A little outside the city center but a stop definitely worth making. De Hallen is essentially a giant food hall where you’ll find lots of food options all in one place. You’ll also find a cinema here, a hotel, a gorgeous library, and more!

Try stroopwafel

Stroopwafel are famous Dutch waffles that you should definitely try when in Amsterdam. They’re thin-like waffle sandwiches that are filled with caramel. Yum.
