Travelled to Banff recently and are ready to share your photos with the wonderful world of Instagram? Looking for the right hashtags to get your photos seen?

I got you.

Using hashtags on your posts is one of the best ways to be found organically on Instagram. It’s also a great way to grow your account and gain extra engagement.

I’m sure you have amazing photos of all the mountains and lakes and gorgeous tree lined roads that you can’t wait to share with your friends and followers on Instagram. I am going to save you some time and trouble by providing you with all the hashtags you will need to go along with your photos that are soon to grace Insta.

Below you will find the ultimate hashtags list for your Banff photos including some accounts you may way to mention when you’re posting as well.

Fell free to copy and paste these babies but make sure to mix them up and try not to post the exact same set of hashtags on each post, that’s an instagram nono.

Don’t forget to add in specific location tags as well as as anything else that goes along with your photo. Keep it niche for your best chances at getting noticed!

So let’s get into the goods!

Alberta

Alberta is home to Banff National Park where you’ll find epic scenery that will have you falling in love over and over again. You can use these hashtags on just about all of your posts for Instagram. Just be sure to mix them up and don’t forget to tag some of the accounts at the bottom of this post to hopefully get featured!

Jasper

If you’re visiting Banff, chances are you will end up in Jasper. The Icefields parkway connects Banff to Jasper and it is one of the best and most scenic drives you can take. So here are some hashtags to use for those Japer National park pics.

#jasperalberta #jaspernationalpark #jaspertourism #jasperlife #picturejasper

Town of Jasper

British Columbia

There are a few places on your trip to Banff that you’ll probably hit up that are actually located in British Columbia. Yoho National Park is one of them and is home to the infamous Emerald lake as well as Kootenay National Park where you’ll find Marble Canyon. Here are a few hashtags to add to your photos from your time in the national parks of BC.

#helloBC #exploreBC #beautifulbritishcolombia #kootenay #beautifulbritishcolumbia🇨🇦 #marblecanyon #discoverbc #kootenaylife #bcisbeautiful #bcpnw #kootenaynationalpark

Road trip

The best way to visit Banff and all the surrounding towns, lakes, hikes etc. is by car. If you want to see as much as possible, the best thing to do is rent a car and drive yourself wherever you want to go. And obviously that means “ROADTRIP!!!” Hopefully you’re sharing the magic of the mountains with friends, but even if you’re going solo, road trips are still an amazing adventure. Use these road trips hashtags on your posts to share that magic with the rest of Instagram.

#roadtripcanada #roadtripr #roadtripvlogs #roadtripgoals #roadtripmemories #roadtripintour #roadtripwithfriends #roadtripsnacks #roadtripphotography #roadtriplife #roadtripadventures

Lakes

Alberta is full of big beautiful lakes that you will definitely be visiting, so these hashtags below will definitely come in handy. Make sure to include the name of each lake and use more niche hashtags for each individual one you go to!

#lakefun #lakeofthewoods #lakescape #lakelove #lakesentrance #lakescollective #lakesregion #lakesofinstagram #lakesdistrict #lakesserence #lakesideview #lakessunset

Canada

Canada is such a beautiful and diverse country and I’m sorry it’s only in the last recent years I’ve discovered that it’s just as beautiful as other countries for myself. Make sure to get out and explore this gorgeous land and splash these hashtags across your posts!

Accounts to tag

When sharing all your content on Instagram, sometimes you may want to tag bigger accounts that share travellers photos in hopes they might feature your gorgeous photos on their account. This can lead to exposure to brands, followers, and overall bring great engagement to your account which in turn can help you grow. Here are a few accounts that you can tag on your Alberta posts!

@Banff.nationalpark

@banff_lakelouise

@visit.banff

@banfftown

@explorebanff

@banffgondola

@my.banff

@banffcentre

@pursuitbanffjasper

Side note: There may be some Banff or Alberta hashtags you’ve seen on Instagram that you didn’t see included here. Having a smaller account, I avoid using massive hashtags that have more than 500k posts.

You may think it’s a big hashtag so chances of your posts being seen are higher because a lot of people are using it, but it’s actually the opposite. If you don’t have a big following, you want to try using smaller hashtags because you will have a much better chance at actually showing up in the hashtag feed, for instance when there are say 250k posts.

Bigger hashtags mean thousands are using it everyday (maybe even every second) and your posts will only get buried under all the other posts coming in. The only time you want to be using big hashtags is when you also have a big following, your post will actually get seen by people.

If you’re all gung ho to use big hashtags anyway even if your account if small, then try mixing in the big hashtags with smaller more niche ones to give yourself the best shot.

So that brings us to the end of this hashtag guide. Good luck and happy posting!
