Stella Stays- Airbnb in Montreal

Reading Time: 7 Mins

Taking a trip to Montreal? Looking for where to stay while there? Come take a look at this lovely apartment in the perfect location just steps away from all the major sites and old Montreal.

~

Yann’s mom recently came down to visit Canada for the very first time. Naturally we tried to show her as much as we could in the short time she was here. That obviously included a trip to Montreal, Quebec.

We planned to spend 2 nights and 3 days there taking in the sites. A few days before we were set to leave, I seriously started looking for an Airbnb to stay at.

Hotels are never my go-to when planning trips. I pretty much always look at what Airbnb’s are available first and go from there.

We got pretty lucky when I searched and saw that a lot of the listings available were not only reduced in price but also centrally located.

After narrowing it down to 2 different apartments, we decided to go with Stella Stays as it was a great price, had more than enough space for the 3 of us, was right around the corner from Notre Dame, and looked really nice.

The Airbnb

With all the standard fixings and a little extra on top, the apartment was perfect for the 3 of us but can accommodate up to 4 people comfortably.

To enter the building, you need to enter a code. Then you need to enter another code to enable the elevator, followed by a code to enter the apartment.

Upon entering the suite, there is a hallway with a closet for jackets behind the door. Beside the closet is the washroom followed by two very good sized bedrooms, one having a king bed and the other a double.

Around the corner, you enter the living, kitchen, and dinning area.

The living room has a sofa, chair, coffee table, and tv. Behind the living area is the small round dining table and 4 chairs and across from that, the kitchen.

The Airbnb is located in a very good location in the heart of old Montreal and just minutes away from a lot of major attractions. It has a very modern feel to it and it is overall a very nice space.

Our stay at Stella Stays

From the beginning (as soon as the Airbnb was booked), communication between myself and the host was excellent. They were very welcoming and helpful and responded to messages promptly. I received check-in instructions with all the codes the before we arrived making check-in go smoothly.

During the winter, heat is something I need to survive and to be comfortable and the temperature the first night was absolutely amazing.  There was even heat in the bathroom which I kid you not was divine!

Yann’s mom’s room was  colder than ours, so we moved the portable heater that was in the living room into her room for the second night. The next day, however, the living area was cold. We didn’t change the thermostat, so I’m not sure what happened, I guess that small heater really did make all the difference.

The beds were comfortable and warm and offered us good night rests. The only downside was the construction across the street that started pretty early in the morning. I didn’t mind as I’m usually up early anyways, plus it got everyone up early so that we could head out on the town and explore.

The dinning table was on the smaller side, but it was good for the 3 of us and we made use of it for breakfast and dinner every night. Since we visited during Covid times, we couldn’t eat in restaurants, so we bought food and brought it back to the Airbnb with us to eat.

The Airbnb came with 4 complimentary Perriers, a bag of popcorn to pop, a small pack of coffee, and some dark chocolate which was very nice. We made use of all of it. The kitchen was also stocked with all the necessities to cook your own food which came in really handy.

The condo comes equipped with a Roku box which connects to YouTube and Netflix etc. The box wasn’t working for us and I messaged the host to try to troubleshoot the problem and they got back to me very quickly. We couldn’t figure out the issue and they offered to come the same day to fix it while we were out for the day. When we got back, the tv was on and the box was working which was awesome. (We like to put on the Yule log fireplace channel on Netflix, it sets a calming and warm vibe, so it was nice to have after getting back from the freezing outdoors).

All in all, we had a really nice stay!

Pros and Cons

Pros:

~Amazing location

~Modern and aesthetically pleasing design

~Looks exactly like the pictures

~Comfortable beds

~Secure access to the building and apartment made us feel very comfortable

~Excellent communication with the host

Cons:

~The construction across the street . -It started around 6:30 am and ended around 6pm. The host does disclose that there is ongoing construction in the listing though. It didn’t really bother me much as I wake up early anyways, I don’t believe it bothered Yann’s mom either, Yann maybe a little bit though haha. But as we were out the majority of the day, we didn’t have to deal with it long. Also it wasn’t overly loud.

~The sink was a little low, even for my short self, but I do believe it was done purposefully to be accessible to all people.

~Apart from the first night, the Airbnb was pretty cold and we were not able to adjust the temperature as desired.

~The floor mat at the entrance needed to be bigger. -As we visited during the winter, after coming in from outside, we had snowy, slushy boots complete with rocks that got all over the entrance.  The small plastic mat at the side didn’t really help much and we had to tip toe around all the salt and slush puddles.
