Take a walk along the Ajax Waterfront trail. This beautiful 13 km long trail offers amazing views of Lake Ontario and is gorgeous in the summer and fall.
~
Located in Ajax, Ontario you will find the beautiful Waterfront trail.
The waterfront trail is quite long and stretches all along the waterfront from Millenium Square in Pickering all the way down past Lakeside Neighbourhood Park. It is actually part of the Great Lakes Waterfront trail that interconnects roads and off-road trails bypassing 3,600 km in length!
Yeah, it’s pretty long.
The actual length of the trail in Ajax alone is 13 km long though, so if you got worried up there, fear not, you don’t have to walk all that.
I did not walk even a third of it but kept it to this small area haha.

Our 2 hour long Walk
My friend Phylicia took us to this beautiful part along the waterfront trail where she usually walks herself and it did not disappoint.
We started on the trail, hung a right, and walked along the two-lane path taking in the beautiful autumn views and the lake.
As we walked further down, you could even spot the CN Tower off in the distance.
The walk was a leisure one. We took our time slowly walking and talking and just enjoying being out together alongside the water.
The view was so relaxing with the birds flying around and the sun just glistening on the water.
Walking along the water
At a parting in the path, we took a walk down to the water’s edge and stared out over the sparkling water and pretended like we were on a tropical island under the sun.. at least I did.
One could almost imagine being on the beach with the beautiful sound of the waves lapping at the shore.
Of course, after a moment and taking a look around, you’re brought right back to reality and see that indeed you are still in Ontario and not on that tropical island.
Ah Well.
Skipping Rocks
The beach area has some sand but in this particular spot, there were pebbles instead. For some reason, we took it upon ourselves to start skipping rocks. Don’t ask me why🤷🏾♀️.
It’s something none of us could do but Phylicia randomly said “Hey Google, how do you skip rocks?” And Google showed us the way.
You gotta follow through with your throw and know that it’s all in the wrist, just FYI.
Needless to say, we had fun haha. There’s never a dull moment with these ladies.
When it was my turn to try my hand, I got it on the first go!! We all got super excited haha!

Fall Vibes
Fall was in full swing and the trees were all orange, yellow, red, and green tones and made for a wonderful sight. I was really digging the fall vibes and if you plan to come here during the fall season, I’m sure you will too!
But don’t think you can’t come in the summer, I know it will be just as beautiful and the added plus is that it will be extra warm out so no jacket will be needed!
Doesn’t get any more fall than this, does it!
Continuing along, we took a side path that led us back down to the water. It knew we needed some more of the calming sound of the waves. It’s no ocean, but it’ll do!
Little Shenanigans
This tree looked so lovely all by itself so I just had to take a picture with it. You’ll notice that with me, things can escalate real quickly haha. Again, don’t ask. My brain just works a little differently every now and then. But don’t worry, I know how to bring those levels right back down when I need to😜.
Anyway, after walking around for a little, we decided it was time to head back.
The views walking back were just as lovely.

Well, I hope you enjoyed our walk and are inspired to come here on your own! Come alone, make it a family affair, or bring your friends. Just get outside and get those steps in!
If you come in the summer, bring some snacks with you, maybe a blanket, and take a nice long relaxing break by the water and enjoy a little picnic.
It may not be a tropical island, but it can be just as relaxing.

Other things to note:
~Parking is free, Holla!
~As the trail is quite long, there are a few different places you can park. If one lot is full, fear not, just keep driving down to the next one.
~There aren’t many garbage cans along the trail, so bring a bag if you plan to picnic and throw your stuff out when you get back to the parking lot. Help keep the trails clean.
~The trail is never too crowded, so you don’t have to worry about needing to get there super early. However, if you do want minimal interaction with others, then going in the morning is still a good idea.

Until next time, stay blessed ♡

I can smell autumn dancing in the breeze. The sweet chill of pumpkin and crisp sunburnt leaves.
