Traveling to Australia? Looking for things to do while there? What places should you go on your Australian trip? Consider Robe, a beautiful fishing port and tourist town located on the Limestone Coast of South Australia.
~
Robe is a charming resort town with a population of approximately 1090 people. In the summer months, the town receives around 15,000 people that come to visit the historic landmarks and see the beautiful coast.
What was once the second busiest port in the 19th century, is now simply a popular tourist destination and fishing village.
Our quick visit
Robe was not a planned stop for us. We did the massive and unforgettable Great Ocean Road drive the day before and slept in Mount Gambier for the night. We set out to drive the second leg of our trip towards Kangaroo Island and we came up to Robe and thought it was a good place to stop to stretch our legs.

As we were driving along, we saw the view and thought “Yup, we’ll stop here!” The view looked beautiful.
We parked right by the top of the beach and enjoyed the views for about 10 minutes or so.
After some serious research while getting this post ready, I realized we actually stopped at Long Beach. Pretty cool that we unknowingly stumbled upon one of the major beaches to visit in town!
There were lots of very attractive houses across from the beach and even more going down the coast.
A nice bush-lined path led us down to the beach and the view was just stunning. The water was a bright turquoise colour that transitioned into a beautiful blue. The clouds were also looking particularly lovely as well!
Have a mentioned how much I love clouds before?! 😋
On top of the gorgeous view, we found some lovely shells laying around in the sand.
There were some cliffs at the end of the beach and I thought it could make for some cool photos, so I walked over and climbed the rocks…I think the pictures turned out pretty good.
You can almost make me out in some of them haha 😋.
After basking in the beautiful views and soaking up some of the sun rays, we got back in the car to continue driving along the coast towards Cape Jarvis.
We were on a time crunch as we had a boat to catch.
It’s all about perspective
Sometimes I wish we had more time to really experience some of the places we quickly stop at and stay longer but truthfully I’m happy just getting to see these places for myself.
I get to say, “Hey, I’ve been there!” which for me is okay. I’ll gladly take it over nothing!

As I mentioned before Robe is a historic town and it’s filled with lots of gems.
If you’re making the lovely drive down the Great Ocean Road from Melbourne to Adelaide (or vise versa) and you plan to stop in this town, I’ve noted a few things you can do while here.

Did you have fun discovering Robe Australia? I know I did.
I love how I never knew this place existed until I happened upon it and now I know so much (I’m using the term “so much” very loosely as well) about it. That’s the beauty of travel and blogging.
You do research about places you visit and may not have known about otherwise and learn a lot in order to produce posts for others to enjoy.
It’s awesome.
At least I think it is!
Anywho.. that brings us to the end of this short recap.
Until next time, Stay blessed ♡
