Staying at a small Airbnb in Moncton New Brunswick

Reading Time: 7 Mins

Travelling to New Brunswick and looking for a place to stay for a few nights?  Check out this cute Airbnb in an awesome location that may just be the next place you book!

~

For my 2-week trip to Prince Edward Island, I had a hard time finding affordable accommodations. Granted I started my search a little later than I should’ve but the months leading up to this trip were crazy busy and I just couldn’t find the time (or willpower) until a few weeks before Yann and I were set to leave.

After searching for a few days straight, I branched out and broadened my search radius and found this cute and really great priced Airbnb, only it was in New Brunswick and not PEI.

I spoke to Yann to see if he was down to extend our trip from just PEI to both provinces. The island is pretty small and you can see it all in just a few days, and so I figured it would be okay. While Yann isn’t picky and will pretty much go wherever, I still wanted to run it by him.

Obviously he was cool with it and the price more than justified the journey, so I snatched it up for our first 5 days and confirmed our stay just 2 weeks before we were set to leave!

The Airbnb

This Airbnb is located right in town and is just minutes away from restaurants. It’s about a 7 minute drive from Walmart where we did all our shopping for our stay. The space is small, on the top floor of a 3-story house, but it was the perfect size for two people.

Upon entering the front door using your passcode, there are steps that take you up to the top floor where you again need a passcode to enter the unit.

The apartment opens up to the kitchen and you have the living/bedroom space to your right. To the left, behind the door, is the washroom, coat rack, and back door leading outside.

It’s not a lot of space but for two people only, it worked. The living/bedroom area featured a two seater couch with two small interconnecting tables. There is a flatscreen tv hung up on the wall. Directly behind the couch is the queen size bed with stand and lamp on either side.

Our stay

From the beginning, communication between myself and the host was good.

Upon our arrival, we had a hiccup getting into the apartment. Our passcode for the door worked for the front door but not to get into the apartment upstairs. I messaged Sarah and she responded right away re-setting the lock and giving us a new code. Unfortunately that didn’t work either and she had to send someone to physically come to fix the lock for us.

We waited about half an hour but luckily we had arrived earlier in the day and didn’t have set plans, so we were okay with the wait. The person sent got us in without a hitch and we were good to go.

Our stay was pretty comfortable, most days were spent out exploring and we were in the Airbnb really  just in the morning and then at night. The bed was comfy and there was a lot of natural light in the space.

We opted to cook the first night which was a little difficult as the kitchen is really small and you’ll notice the ceilings are low and vaulted throughout the apartment. There was a little cutout in the wall for the stove to fit and there was no fan, so even for our simple little meal, the fire alarm sounded and we had to open the back door to let air in. We realized for anything we did on the stove, we’d just need to have to door open.

Issues and overall experience

Because we were on the top floor, the apartment was basically shaped like an A-Frame. So as long as we were in the “middle parts of the apartment” we could stand up straight, but along the walls, you had to bend your head which wasn’t that big of a deal. I chose the side of the bed that was against and the wall as I’m much shorter than Yann and wouldn’t have to duck down too far to get into bed each night.

The only other “issue” I’d say I had was with the bathroom. While it was nicely lit, it was small which was okay for just a few days. The main problem was there wasn’t a lot of space to store our things and there was also no ventilation.

Everything else was good. If you don’t like stairs, this probably wouldn’t be the right place to stay but it was a nice little workout for us each time we came back to the apartment.

The tv came equipped with Youtube and Netflix and that’s all we really needed, so it was great.

Overall, our stay here was good, it was easy to come and go and it was quick to get to the nearby restaurants and shopping (which, again, was mainly Walmart for us haha). Lastly the price was amazing for the location.

The Price

For our 4-night stay, we paid $65 per night bringing our total to $402.89 CAD after taxes and fees. This price was honestly a steal, even having to extend our stay to a different province including paying the $50 bridge toll fee to get across, this place still worked out to be more affordable than anything we found on PEI.

~

In conclusion,  if I were to visit Moncton again, I would look for another place to stay just to test out different waters, but if I couldn’t find anything, I would stay here again. Our stay was pretty decent and the location was honestly perfect. The size was sufficient for the two of us, and we really had everything we needed.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

~Amazing location

~Excellent communication with the host

~Good price for an entire place to yourself

~Secure access to the apartment

~Parking available

Cons:

~The apartment was pretty small and there wasn’t a lot of storage or places to put our things. If you’re tall, I probably wouldn’t recommend staying here. I’m 5’2 and had to bend down from time to time!

Planning a trip to the New Brunswick? Book this Airbnb starting around $70 CAD per night. Please keep in mind prices fluctuate and are usually more expensive on the weekend.

~

Until next time, stay blessed ♡
